When you're trying to create free tickets for sponsors, VIPs or guests who pay offline, you have a few options. In this article, we will help you decide which option works best for your situation.
Option 1: Create Tickets
Use this option when you want to register someone for your event without the guest having to claim a ticket. A lot of times, organizations use this method to enter guests who pay by check or staff members.
Option 1: Create Comp Codes
Use this option when you want to create a block of tickets, the recipients won't be automatically seated together at a table, and the ticket holders will need to claim their own tickets. This option is used for events without table/teams or scenarios where clients have a block of tickets that they will assign throughout a room. More about assigning comp codes here.
When you send a comp code, the comp code recipient gets the Comp Code Email.
Following the instructions from that email, they'll forward it (or grab the link and create their own email) to those they want to register.
Each guest will register by clicking the link and can continue adding tickets up to the total number available for that code (10 in this case):
The guest will fill out the form and the system will send the ticket email.
When you click on tickets in the left-hand menu, you'll see this registration as a ticket just like all of your other tickets. Since it's a single ticket, it won't be associated with a table.
Option 3: Create a Table/Team
Use this option when you're creating a block of tickets for a group of people and you'd like them all to sit together at the event.
Creating a table/team pushes the host and guests through the table/team process.
- Table/Team Hosts receive an email with their table link to invite guests using first name, last name, and email address.
- Guests will then receive an email asking them to confirm or decline the invitation.
- If they accept the invitation, the guest will be taken to a page where they enter their registration details. They won't be taken to a payment screen since the host purchases all his/her guests' individual tickets with a table purchase.
From the back of the software, when you click on tickets in the left-hand menu, you'll see this registration as a ticket just like all of your other tickets. The table name will show in the table/team column in line with the guest's name:
You can also view table guests by clicking tables in the left-hand menu.
From list view, click the blue number to pull up a table's guest list.
By choosing table view in this tab, you can see all of your tables and their guests at one time:
