These settings sound similar, but they're actually used very differently. There are two things you should know before you decide if you want to enable gift crediting or honoring of persons on the donation checkout page:
- They're not required settings. You can choose to leave them both off.
- Choose only one.
- While you can technically enable both, as a best practice, you shouldn't, because turning both on often leads to donor confusion.
- Confused donors are less likely to take action and sometimes don't donate at all.
"Gift Crediting" helps your registrants rise to the top of the leaderboards for peer-to-peer fundraising. It allows donors to scroll through a list of registrants/fundraisers.
"Honoring of Persons" is for honorariums/memorials. This setting allows the donor to enter the name of a person who may or may not be a registered participant/ticket holder/fundraiser.
