Normally, for these sessions, we dive into the back end of your Swell software to show you exactly how to use a particular feature or create a specific type of campaign. Today will be a little different since we’re mainly talking about ideas.

Flash Campaigns
We tend to think of Flash campaigns for natural emergencies, but they can easily be used to raise funds for needed equipment or seasonal campaigns like back-to-school drives.
We talked about two examples today. The first is a campaign to replace a mission-critical forklift.
The second welcomes rising kindergarteners to school.
Non-Human Champion Campaigns
Champions don't have to be human! How about a pet parade or pet costume contest?
You could also use military branches, football rivalries or other affiliations as fundraisers. Have donors vote with their dollars to see their team come out on top.
Tributes and Milestones
Create pages for big life events like anniversaries, retirements, weddings, birthdays, even funerals. Allow honorees tell their stories with honor wall campaigns.
Leveraging Swell Tools in Creative Ways
Offline Transactions
Offline transactions show up on your event site in the “amount raised” section and on your leaderboard display just like online transactions. Use them to generate excitement when your MC shows the display during your gala or enter in an amount so your campaign doesn't start off at $0.
Reminder Emails
Your reminder tools can do so much more if you let them! Use them as ways to update guests about changes to your event or venue preferences, ways to cheer on your fundraisers, as post-event recaps, or even as a save-the-date! Just remember:
- This will only work for you if your event uses tickets.
- If your event uses virtual tickets, you'll want to edit the "livestream reminder email." If it uses regular tickets, you'll want to edit the in-person reminder email instead.
Bonus tip: If your organization has an Amazon wish list, remember to link to it in your system-generated emails!
Hidden Content Pages
We’ve talked about using hidden pages as repositories for photos, and fundraiser toolkits in the past, but you could also use them to provide VIP access to exclusive videos, behind-the-scenes tours, or early-bird announcements.
Create content pages for the stories you’ll be sharing throughout the campaign, but hide them until it’s time to release them. Create social posts highlighting the new stories each week and ask your champions to do the same. That way, there’s something new to come back to each week.
Bonus Scavenger Hunt Idea:
Create a scavenger hunt campaign where clues are released on a timed schedule (Maybe you even grant your top 5 participants exclusive early access.) That sounds like a lot of work during the campaign, but it wouldn’t have to be.
- Create all of your clue pages before you launch your site, but don’t activate them.
- When it’s time to release a clue, if you’re releasing it to your top five fundraisers first, make the clue page active, but hidden.
- Send them the link in a private email so they’re the only ones who have access to the clue.
- Then, when it’s time to release the clue to everyone, unhide the content page.
